What is FIRST?

FIRST is an organization geared towards the curious, questioning mind.  The mission of FIRST is to encourage today's youth to become leaders in the fields of science and technology.   Founded by Dean Kamen, FIRST has grown from a single division to four divisions that reach all grade levels.  FIRST consists of four programs:  FIRST Junior LEGO League (JFLL),  FIRST LEGO League (FLL),  FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC),  FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC).  FIRST has teams in over 50 countries and their programs currently reach over 300,000 students.  FIRST is responsible for more than $14 million in scholarships that assist our future leaders.  With their assistance, students are able to work alongside professional engineers in order to build their robots.  All students get the opportunity to learn good leadership skills,  gracious professionalism and coopertition skills thanks to our friends at FIRST.
